he Nka Ikem Esit Charitable Organisation Inc.(An Association of Calabar (Efik) Indigenes in Washington DC Metropolis) in collaboration with the Exquisite Ladies Foundation have empowered some physically challenged persons in Cross River State through the provision of walking aids to ease their daily movement.
In her welcome address, the President of the Exquisite Ladies Foundation, Calabar, Lady Gertrude B. Odu said the foundation is a non-socio, non-governmental, and non-profit, making association of ladies who have come together to touch the lives of the less privileged by pulling their resources together to render selfless services ranging from visitations to the motherless babies,aged people’s homes,award scholarship to intelligent indigent students across the three (3) senatorial districts of the state on rotational basis annually and also organise empowerments such as this to help the vulnerable.
The founder of the Foundation,Eti Eka Lady Lawrencia Ita (ksji) JP, while speaking about how far the association have come,said the association was established in 1994 and have been resolute without disintegration till date while appreciating the Exquisite Ladies for not relenting in their efforts to sacrifice their widows might to share with the less privileged. About their partnership with the Nka Ikem Esit Charitable Organisation, she posited that because of their similar goals of lending a hand to the vulnerable the association have succeeded through those years and appreciated them for sending in the walking aids to help the physically challenged, for promoting the Efik culture in the USA and helping to promote the socio-economic development of the Efik Indigenes in Cross River State.
